Another Montreal’s victory wasn’t long in coming

Another Montreal’s victory wasn’t long in coming

The NHL tournament has brought a big surprise to all fans. Another match between Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens ended with a confident victory of the latter with a score of 4:3. This is not the first success of the Reds in the duels with the Oilmen.

The match was held on April 22nd in Edmonton, Canada. This time the hockey players of the northern division were played at the Rogers Place Arena.

Special features of the game

As always, the game between Edmonton and Montreal demonstrated high level of dynamism and unpredictable intentions of the players of both clubs. Watching the hockey players, one could easily notice the clear advantages of the “red” team.

The contribution to the scoring situation of the winning Montreal was made by:

  • Artturi Lehkonen;
  • Josh Anderson — 2 goals, one of which decided the fate of the match;
  • Tyler Toffoli.

Alexander Romanov, who plays in Montreal’s defense, showed himself with one useful pass and one shot on goal, which had a positive effect on his rating.

The authors of the Edmonton goals were:

  • Connor McDavid;
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins;
  • Esse Puljujärvi.

This game marked the fourth debut of the Canadiens in their last 10 meetings. In turn, the Oilers have managed to lose for the fifth time in the past ten matches.

Future plans

match between Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens

Edmonton is currently the third in the Northern Division, while Montreal is the fourth. After an unexpected loss to the Lights with the score of 0:5, Edmonton distinguished themselves by a good game against the Canadians — 4:1. The team had a confident victory over the Planes — 3:0. The alliance between McDavid and Draisaitl was re-established. In two matches, they were able to increase their rating by as much as 9 points. In addition, Mike Smith was awarded the third shutout this season. Now the main thing for the Oilmen is to lead the division. However, at the moment, Tippet’s players can boast only 56 points, lagging behind the favourites by 5 points.

As for Montreal, this season cannot be called successful for the team. Their main competitor, Vancouver, is back in the game and is pretty determined. The victory in the current match certainly played a huge role, moving the Canadiens significantly up the standings. According to experts, Dominique Ducharme’s players need to increase the intensity and effectiveness of their attacks, since there is still a certain deficit of dangerous scoring episodes in the team’s game.
